Surya Concretec, the popular cement brand of Northeast recently celebrated Bhogali Bihu with the Tiwa King and various other members of the Tiwa community in Ouzari village of Morigaon district.
The celebration, named as Surya Concretec - Bhogalir Ekhaaj was organized in a grand manner in the paddy fields of Ouzari village where the harvesting was recently completed by the villagers. A traditional 'bhela ghar' was constructed in the middle of the field and several mejis were also constructed using the paddy hay that was left after the annual harvesting season.
Tulsi Chamsor the Tiwa King graced his royal presence during the celebration along with his family members. A warm traditional welcome was given to the Tiwa King by the community members of Ouzari village and the Surya Concretec team.
Eminent Assamese singer and heartthrob Rakesh Reeyan was invited to sing and entertain the crowd present during the occasion. Rakesh sang various Assamese songs during the celebration and made the entire crowd dance to his tunes. Various other local artists and musicians also voluntarily came and joined the stage.
A huge bonfire was lit in the middle of the field and various traditional and local Tiwa cuisines were cooked for the entire crowd that was present during the festival. The entire Surya Concretec team was felicitated by the Tiwa community in the traditional Tiwa way. The traditional Tiwa Gamocha also known as Fali were given to all the members of Surya Concretec team present there. The local dealers and distributors of Surya Concretec from Morigaon district were invited to attend the festival and dine alongside the Tiwa King.
Commenting on the initiative, Madhur Agarwal, Managing Director, Surya Concretec said, "We are privileged to get the opportunity to celebrate Bhogali Bihu, the largest harvest festival of Assam with the Tiwa King and the Tiwa community of Morigaon district."
"We at Surya Pariwar, firmly believe in conserving the ethnic traditions of all the tribes and communities of Assam and our involvement in this festival – Bhogalir Ekhaaj was one such example of our commitment." He further commented.
Dance groups and music troupes of various tribes and communities joined the celebration and contributed in making the program – Bhogalir Ekhaaj a grand success. A crowd of more than three hundred people gathered during the occasion and everyone sang and danced to the songs of Rakesh Reeyan. The festival ended with all the attendees finally dining together with all the local cuisines cooked in a traditional way.
M/s PURBANCHAL CEMENT LTD. (SURYA CEMENT) has fixed up its mission for the year 2019-20 and determined to carry Free Eye Checkup camp and to distribute free spectacles for required beneficiaries and targeted legatees are all school students from nearby four schools, namely- Tamulikuchi High School, Tamulikuchi M.E. School, Sarutari L.P. School and Marogdula L.P. School along with the villagers from nearby villages.
However, it is not being possible to cover targeted 450 students from above four (4) schools along with villagers at a time. Hence keeping ahead this noble mission, the Management has decided to hold two camps separately to cover all of them.
In the first phase, targeting only primary school children of MOROGDULA L.P. SCHOOL and SARUTARI L.P. SCHOOL, the Management of SURYA family has organized the FREE EYE CHECKUP CAMP on 09.08.2019, Friday at SARUTARI L.P. SCHOOL CAMPUS to monitor their eyes in association of SRI SHANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA with the help of it's experienced Eye Doctors and Optometrist.
Inaugurating the camp, Mr. Sunil Kr. Agarwal - president of M/s Purbanchal Cement Ltd. (SURYA CEMENT) has approached all school children, parents, present social workers from nearby villages and teachers staff that the management is committed to carry such social activates that can reach to the actual recipients and have its gallant cause. There are many students who are not aware about their vision problem or other problem. He said that the management of Surya Cement is determined to distribute more than 500 numbers of Spectacles to the beneficiaries through these missioned CSR activities to whom it will be prescribed after thorough and final check up their eyes at SRI SHANKARADEVA NETRYALAYA eye hospital, Guwahati or in its sub-center at Sonapur.
In the camp more than 200 students from both the schools examined all preliminary test successfully and around 20 aged villagers were also examined their eyes though they have been planned to cover in the next camp scheduled at the end of this month. Apart from Eye monitoring, the team from SRI SHANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA has made attentive advices to all school children with some preventive measures and nutritious food habits for their eyes. In the camp over 50 numbers of students and villagers are identified having problems and recommended for further test either at SRI SHANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA or at their Sonapur sub center as per convenient.
It is mentionable here that the Management of SURYA FAMILY has organized Free eye Camps in earlier years in various time to monitor Cataract, vision and other relevant eye problems. More than 20 patient had identified with cataract problem and taken care to operate successfully at SRI SHANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA hospital and many were provided free spectacles for vision problems.
The Camp was started at 9.30 am and successfully end at 2.00 pm. In camp Mr. Diganta Laskar - President of Sarutari L.P. School committee, Members of Village co-ordination committee - Mr. Naren Ch. Teron, Mr. Anil Rongpee, Mr. Jiten Rahang - President of Marodula L.P. School committee - Mr. Ajit Tumung, Mr. Rakesh Rongpee, Mr. Dwijen Kalita were present in the camp and Mr. Sunil kr. Agarwal appreciated all the present social workers, Teacher staff for their day long co-operation and association in the camp to make grand success. At the end of this first phase FREE EYE CAMP the officials informed that the next camp will be organized in larger way with more staff to cover the students of both the school i.e. Tamulikuchi High School & Tamulikuchi M.E. School and the date will be announced soon and scheduled at the end of August'2019 tentatively.
On successful completion 1st Phase of Free Eye Checkup camp on 9/08/19, Friday for the student of Sarutari L.P. School and Marogdula L.P. School along with the villagers from nearby villages, M/s PURBANCHAL CEMENT LTD. (SURYA CEMENT) wherein more than 200 beneficiaries are monitored though students of Tamulikuchi High School & Tamulikuchi M.E. School along with villagers, almost 250 nos of beneficiaries have been left to monitor their eyes to exterminate any disorder, if there is any, being it was overcrowded in 1st phase Camp.
Therefore, considering the demand and requirement, the management of Surya family has pursued SRI SHANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA to organize one more Free Eye Checkup Camp in 2nd phase for the Students of Tamulikuchi High School & Tamulikuchi M.E. School along with other habitants of both the adjacent village as Free Eye checkup and provision of Spectacles to beneficiaries (at least 200 nos Spectacles) is considered by the management of Surya family as Mission Objectives. As per convenient time and schedule of SRI SHANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA, they has announce the date for 2nd phase of Eye Camp on 9th of Sept'19, Monday.
The camp was inaugurated by the Head Master of Tamulikuchi High School & Tamulikuchi M.E School- respectively Mr. Puran Deka & Mr. Hemo Rajbanshi. Both of them appreciate the management of Surya Cement that the organization has started this Mission objective program with very noble cause which is very vital part of human being. They quote that we open third eye (Education & Knowledge) to our students which is inside, but our both the eyes are God gifted of which we should take care very carefully. They also quote in their inaugural speech that the Management of Sury Cement has been taking care of these two school and their students in many ways in various occasions as a part of their CSR activities, from arrangement of drinking water, One Merit scholarship to encourage the student for better result, maintenance of infrastructures etc. In this second phase of the Camp, total targeted students from Tamulikuchi High School and Tamulikuchi M.E School along with some villagers were 300 nos.

The Camp was started at 9.30 am and successfully ends at 1.30 pm. In camp social workers Mr. Diganta Laskar, Mr. Naren Ch Teron, Mr. Anil Rongpi, Mr. Ajit Tumung and many others were present in the camp and Mr. Sunil kr. Agarwal conveyed his thankful message all the present social workers, Teacher staff for their co-operation and association in the camp to make it a grand success. At the end of this 2nd Phase of FREE EYE CAMP the officials from SRI SHANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA appreciated the management of Surya Cement for their initiative in arranging the camp in smooth way. The concerned officials of SRI SANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA has advised to send all those students and villagers to either to their SONAPUR VISION CENTR or SRI SANKARADEVA NETHRALAYA hospital for further examination of all those patients who have been identified for Spectacles.
Surya Cement sponsored the 1st Senior DueBall Team of Assam Unit at the 7th Senior National DueBall Championships 2019 organized at Ropar in Punjab from 27 - 30th June 2019, by the All India Dueball Association and Punjab Due Ball Federation. Rajasthan defeated Delhi with 3-2 to lift the Women's Final Trophy while on the other hand, Punjab won the Men's Final by defeating Goa with 7-1.
